Mission:
Nassau Humane Society improves the lives of homeless animals in our community by providing them shelter and compassionate care. Our work focuses on adoption services, education about responsible pet ownership, and working to reduce animal overpopulation and homeless pets.
Vision:
A loving home for all pets.
At Nassau Humane Society, every animal who comes through our doors gets a true second chance. We work tirelessly to provide medical care, safety, and compassion to homeless pets in Nassau County — and we extend that same promise to animals in urgent need at overcrowded, kill shelters in our surrounding areas. When space or time is running out for them, we step in to widen our circle of care.
Our mission is to tackle the most pressing animal welfare challenges facing our community, from overpopulation to pets with nowhere else to go. That means rescue and protection services, adoption and foster programs, education, and spay/neuter for community cats.
And no matter where an animal’s story begins, one thing is constant: they stay with us until they find a loving home. We never euthanize for space or financial reasons.
NHS is powered 100% by our community. You help make every second chance possible — by adopting, fostering, volunteering, shopping at our resale stores, or donating.
Together, we’re creating a future where every unwanted pet can find the love and safety they deserve.
