NHS RESCUES

Thanks to your support Nassau Humane Society has become a shelter that other facilities frequently reach out to when they need assistance, which is daily.

You all have allowed us to take in 7 PitSisters dogs need placement, 12 dogs (including 3 puppies and a mom with demodectic mange and her pups) from a shelter in the panhandle that only has outdoor kennels and no heat and 23 cats and kittens in just the past 2 weeks.

These three dogs were part of the 12 from the rural shelter. They thought they were puppies but once we got them here and our veterinary staff examined them we discovered that despite their size and body condition, they are all almost a year old. All three also have pneumonia.

They are being isolated and treated. They have responded to treatment so far and with proper nutrition and medications and continued care expected to make a full recovery.

Mom and pups are being treated for their skin conditions and getting the food and attention they need.

The PitSisters dogs are making progress with more socialization and we are getting Bobby’s cherry eye surgery and Oscar’s heartworm treatment scheduled.

This month alone over 15 dogs rescued from open admission shelters are going through life saving heartworm treatment before being fully adopted into their forever homes.

Three other dogs are having orthopedic surgeries to recover from either abuse or traumatic injuries from being hit by cars.

You are a part of each of these life saving stories. We have even more lives we are trying to save this week, we just need your continued support to do it.
